Crafted with sustainability, quality, and community in mind.
From humble beginnings with a simple sauna tent, Stone & Steam has blossomed into a beautifully crafted mobile sauna, hosting up to 18 people. Completed in 2025, this bespoke build blends professional craftsmanship with years of sauna hosting experience — creating a space that is both stunning and deeply restorative.
Designed with the holy trinity of sauna — powerful wood-fired heat, clean ventilation, and quality non-toxic materials — it offers exceptional warmth, beauty, and comfort, built to run all day for groups of every size.
Every detail supports ritual, health, and connection. The feedback from this summer’s events speaks for itself:
“This is the best sauna I’ve ever been in!”
Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Katie, founder of Stone & Steam Wild Spa. My journey into sauna culture began with a deep commitment to mental health and community well-being. After more than a decade working in mental health services and running urban community gardens, I saw first-hand how isolation, stress, and disconnection from nature were impacting people’s lives. Saunas, I realised, could offer a powerful alternative — a space of prevention, healing, and togetherness.
Travel then deepened this path. From the Temazcales of Central America to Morocco’s Hamams and Lithuania’s Pirtis, I learned how different cultures use heat for ritual, therapy, and connection. Inspired, I built my first wood-fired sauna in 2020.
To bring this vision to the UK, I trained as a sauna host in 2021, studying the science of hot and cold exposure, therapeutic practices and sauna rituals. Following this I was supported and funded by the King’s Trust ‘young enterprise scheme’ which allowed me to complete this sauna build.
At the heart of Stone & Steam is my belief that saunas are more than wellness — they are modern sanctuaries, a welcoming alternative to the pub, and a place where stories, rituals, and community thrive. As your sauna host, I tend the fire, guide the rituals, and hold space so every guest feels safe, included, and cared for.
